Musical Delights to Support Human Rights
Five upcoming Aussie bands, The Omissions, Erik the Red, Annie McKinnon, Salta and John Vella will be rocking out at The Annandale Hotel on Sunday 14 October 2012, in a charity gig event to help two local inner west residents, Isabel and Julia, in their quest to raise funds for human rights organisation Amnesty International.
All the musicians involved are pumped to be sharing their musical delights with Sydneysiders for such a great cause. Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people with a vision of a world in which every person enjoys all human rights. Isabel and Julia have taken up the challenge to cycle around Cambodia in November and have committed to raising a combined target of over $6,000 for Amnesty International.
This musical event will be a great way for the girls to raise funds and for everyone to enjoy the bands’ musical talents. The show will kick off at 5pm and expects to finish around 9pm.
Tickets will be available before the event at a special price of $15 via the Annandale Hotel website….or OzTix…. and will also be available at the door for $20.

The Omissions: This reformed group of bad boy models has been brought together to tear-the-underwear from the local female population with their groove laden rock and infectious funk rhythms.
Erik the Red: Is a four piece band, smoothly transitioning from indie to folk and onto pop. Watching Erik the Red perform is a real experience as the boys just exude fun and make you want to dance! Citing influences from Boy & Bear to Dave Matthews Band and The Kooks, you know you’re in for a musical treat.
Annie McKinnon: Annie McKinnon is a neo-folk singer songwriter with a rich acoustic sound that is supported by a band that takes the experience to a new height. The band features pedal processed violin, horns, tele, classically influenced bass, drums, percussion and sampling.
Salta: Salta’s laid back style belies mature and affecting song craft. Melodic basslines, warm harmonies and intricate finger-picking on both electric and acoustic guitars brings to mind the music of such folk legends as Nick Drake combined with the energy and clarity of current singer songwriters Anais Mitchell and Laura Marling.
John Vella: John’s music has been likened to Ryan Adams, John Mayer, Coldplay and Bob Dylan, all artists where material comes first, and honesty sits comfortably out the front. It’s an affair of the heart, where a common love of lyrical storytelling, intelligent composition and great playing come together to create something truly special.
